If I lose my job, do I still have to pay child or spousal support?
Hi, my name is Ash Mazinani. I'm a divorce and family lawyer in Toronto. The law in Ontario provides that any court order or agreement for the payment of child or spousal support can be varied if there has been a material change in circumstances since the day that the order or agreement was made. Losing your employment through no fault of your own and being unable to find new employment would be considered a material change in circumstance that would result in a reduction of your support obligations.
